THANKS to everyone who values our public library. Your support has been overwhelming! The good news is that almost all of the General Assembly has issued statements in support. Legislators are on board. Your voice was heard on behalf of the library!

The budget discussions will go on for several more weeks. We appreciate your concern for our library and applaud your interest in the legislative process. We will wait and see what cuts will be made. Certainly, we understand that the entire state needs to tighten its belt and consider working more economically, but libraries are already suffering with 20% less funds and more demands on our services.

A legislator from southern Ohio said, “I firmly support Ohio's public libraries, and will do everything possible to ensure that the cuts to these items are reduced. The Senate has passed the budget out of their chamber, and it is now in Conference Committee. Conference Committee is the final step in the budget process, and I will do everything I can to help support Ohio's library system.

Libraries provide an indispensible service to their communities, especially in times of economic crisis. Maintaining their funding is an important decision which has the potential to help our state in the long run.”
