This season, please join me in thanking Euclid residents David Carlson and Camilla Smith for their long-term support of the Euclid Public Library. David has served as a Board Trustee and President of the Board for 16 years and has helped guide the library through several renovations, a new Director Search, and various new technologies. David noted that “the library has become more of a community center.” Camilla has served as a Friends of the Library member and Friends of the Library Board President for 20 years. During her tenure, she helped raise thousands of dollars through book sales and memberships to support library programs and services. Camilla noted when she moved to Euclid, the Library was a great place to meet other residents and get involved. We will truly miss the leadership of both David and Camilla and we wish them all the best as they officially retire from their volunteer duties at the Euclid Public Library. In the fall of 2021, the Board of Trustees of Euclid Public Library began a Facilities Assessment process to learn more about the current condition of our 64-year-old building. Euclid Public Library contracted with RFC Contracting and Bialosky Cleveland to not only study our existing structure, but to provide options to the residents of Euclid for a future library. We are excited to begin sharing the results of this process with you and encourage you to visit us online at to learn more. We also invite you to join us in celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month (September 1-30), Banned Books Week (September 18-24), Teen Read Week (October 17-21), Children’s Book Week (November 7-13), and National Novel Writing Month (November 1-30). Each of these events seeks to encourage residents of all ages to read, write and improve literacy rates in our region. Take a moment to visit the library and participate in a program. Learn more by visiting us online at Congratulations to Euclid Public Library Director Kacie Armstrong on being selected as the Ohio Library Council’s 2022 Librarian of the Year! This award honors a librarian whose recent accomplishments have impacted the library profession and/or library service to the community. Ms. Armstrong serves as a current Ohio Library Council Board Member, a member of the American Library Association, Black Caucus of the American Library Association, Public Library Association, and the Coretta Scott King Book Award Program Committee. She completed the Leadership Ohio Program in 2020. Director Armstrong has served in her current role for a little over nine years and is proud to follow in the footsteps of former Euclid Public Library Director Donna Perdzock who won the award in 2011. Ms. Armstrong will be formally recognized at the annual Ohio Library Council Convention in September. Director’s Report Kacie V.
