1 LIBRARY LIAISON FALL 2023 Fall 2023 VOLUME 5 / ISSUE 3 LIBRARY HOURS MONDAY - THURSDAY 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM FRIDAY 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM SATURDAY 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM SUNDAY 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (STARTING OCTOBER 1) BOARD OF TRUSTEES The Euclid Public Library Board of Trustees meets the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 PM. CLOSINGS: SEPTEMBER 4 – Labor Day OCTOBER 13 – Staff Day NOVEMBER 22 (close at 5:00 PM) NOVEMBER 23 Thanksgiving Day DECEMBER 24 – 25 Christmas Day DECEMBER 31 – JANUARY 1 New Year’s Day On August 12, 2023 Euclid Public Library will celebrate our 88 years of service to our community. In 1935 when a few residents gathered together to start our independent library system, I’m sure that they never imagined a life with computers, social media platforms, and downloadable books. This committed group of citizens did envision a future where-in residents would need factual, current, and open access to materials, information, and resources. This fall, our seven Board of Trustees is taking those same steps to look ahead to the future and determine how to continue to address the needs of our community. Bialosky Cleveland and RFC Contracting provided us with a complete Facility Master Plan. We now know that we need a new roof, new boiler system, updated technology, electrical, and lighting systems, and most importantly, we need to update our spaces to better accommodate the new Middle & High School students that visit us afterschool. The Euclid Public Library Board of Trustees passed several resolutions this summer to place a 5.6 millage renewal and a 1.5 millage Permanent Improvement (PI) levy on the ballot this November 7. The 5.6 millage renewal will cost the average $100,000 Euclid homeowner $131 per year and the 1.5 millage PI levy will cost the average $100,000 homeowner in Euclid, $52 per year. The money generated from the PI levy will allow us to undertake significant improvements to the building. September is an exciting month for us at the library, as we celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month! Whether you’re a lifelong library user or have yet to discover the benefits of having a library card, we encourage everyone to stop by and sign up for a free library card. It’s never too late to join our community of readers, learners, and enthusiasts! If you have any overdue materials from our collection, now is the time to bring them back to us! During Library Card Sign-Up Month, we’ll even waive the late fees for any overdue materials. It’s our way of helping you start fresh and get back to enjoying all the wonderful resources our library has to offer. But that’s not all!
