CLOSINGS: DECEMBER 31 – JANUARY 1 New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day JANUARY 15 Martin Luther King Jr. Day MARCH 31 Easter APRIL 4 Staff Development Day Director’s Report Kacie V. Armstrong The Board, staff, and volunteers of the Euclid Public Library wish you a Happy New Year! Typically, at the start of the year, we are all thinking about our goals for our careers, education, health, and financial success. This year, I encourage you to add one or two reading goals, especially through the Cuyahoga Reads initiative. Writing goals down and tracking them provides motivation and helps us focus on achieving them. Many times, we think we are eating well or exercising at least two to three times per week, but when we actually track the goals, we may see that we are falling short. Libraries are here to help you achieve your reading goals. Through our own goal setting, we can better support the children in our lives as they read for school and fun. To start tracking your reading, visit https://euclidlibrary.beanstack.com/reader365. You can also join our annual Friends of the Library sponsored Winter Reading Club from January 16 to March 2. Euclid Public Library has plenty of programs this season, including author events. Families are encouraged to participate in the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Literature Week January 15-19. This week is to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Euclid Public Library will show The Right to Read film on Thursday, February 8 at 4:00 PM. The Right to Read shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read. In March, the Friends of the Euclid Public Library will host their annual lunch on the 21st at 12:00 PM. Participants will learn about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her legal fight for women’s rights. Staff also look forward to watching a total solar eclipse with you on Monday, April 8. Check our website for additional information about the eclipse. Thank you for your continued support and please connect with us online at euclidlibrary.org, by phone at 216-261-5300, or through our social media platforms.
