The Coretta Scott King Book Awards are given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values. The John Steptoe Award for New Talent was established to affirm new talent and to offer visibility to excellence in writing and/or illustration at the beginning of their career as a published book creator. In this virtual event, we will celebrate this year’s Author Award Winner Jade Adia and Illustrator Award Winner Briana Mukodiri.
